SANTORINI AT SUNSET

Returning home to Australia after doing what I do best on the international corporate world — two weeks of high-level meetings in Munich, middle weekend entertaining clients on a quick trip over the alps to Venice, Technology Conference in London followed by nights out at West End’s Theatres with clients — I decided to do something that had long been on my travel wish list, to spend time on the Greek Island of Santorini (Thera).

After saying goodbye to my colleagues and clients at Heathrow, I boarded my flight to Athens full of anticipation, only to have my enthusiasm dampened when we all had to disembark again. A suitcase without a passenger accompanying had been discovered, posing a possible bomb threat.

An hour and a half later, we were allowed to board once again. After settling into my customary window seat, I was delighted when a gorgeous fit and tanned young woman sat down next to me and promptly introduced herself. She had been doing promotional work at Wimbledon, on the International Pro Tennis circuit. We chatted animatedly throughout the flight, one of my favourite pastimes being to spend time at the Australian Open, often hosting clients in the company’s corporate box.
